Our Salons will be listed shortly along with a time table and charity
auction list.
For a listing of last year's salons, please go here.

Main Performance by Voltaire: Voltaire is a singer/songwriter whose music
has its roots deeply imbedded in European folk music.  Voltaire's live shows,
whether solo or with his skeletal orchestra, are highly theatrical; full of props
and stories.  You can check out his music for yourself at his webpage.

Cream Tea Catered by Teaberry's: An exquisite affair for you to enjoy for a
nominal extra charge of $10.  An assortment of freshly brewed loose teas and
delicious freshly baked scones scones with all the trimmings, including real
imported clotted cream and lemon curd.  This will take place in the lovely
hotel restaurant, Alexander's, which will be ours exclusively for the tea.
There will be tea divination lessons if you desire and
Kwannon will be
performing her gorgeous vocals and world instrument accompaniment.

Masked Ball: An affair to remember!  Our ballroom will be beautifully
decorated for your enjoyment.  Come dressed in your finest and bring your
favorite mask and dance the night away to music ranging from gothic to new
wave to trance to house to indie bands you are not cool enough to have
heard before.  Naturally, there will be a few traditional ballroom dance pieces
played as well.

Burlesque Performance by the lovely and talented women from The Home of
Happiness Rocky Horror cast:  Very naughty.  Very exciting.

Fan Language: Say it all without uttering a word! In this Salon you will be
instructed in the "Secret Language of Fans." How do you tell a beau you are
interested? How do to make sure your lover knows the time of your
rendezvous? How do you pass a tidbit of gossip to your best friend across a
crowded room? You can do it all with a fan! Any type of folding fan will do for
this Salon! Bring out your fan finery and show off what you have learned
throughout the convention! If you do not have a fan, arrangements can be
made for you to borrow one.

Ball Room Dance Instruction: The ballroom scenes are always some of the
best parts of period pieces.  Now here's your chance to learn how to look like
you're out of an Austin novel.  Besides, who wouldn't be charmed by your
talent at the masked ball?

The Gentleman's Adventuring Society and Finishing School Dropout Coterie
Presents:
A Scientific Symposium:  Come see Victorian inspired scientific
experiments and discuss your own laboratory.

Artist Social: Come meet the visual artists providing wall decor at SalonCon
and discuss their works.

Catherynne Valente Book Reading & Signing: Come listen to
Catherynne's beautifully intricate fairy tales and get your books autographed.

Charity Auction: Come assuage your conscious and spend your hard earned
money freely, it all goes to charity.  We will be supporting
The Jonathan
Larson Performing Arts Foundation.

Ladies Sewing and Mischief Circle (with the Gentlemen Auxiliary chapter):
The best place to catch up on all the day's gossip and make new friends. It's
best to bring your own crafts, but we will supply a small amount of sewing
supplies.

Parlour Games: Learn and play such Victorian classics as Feather and Poor
Pussy.

Indoor Croquet: Are you a Heather or a Veronica?

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Meetup:  It's the little perfume e-tailer with its
own (obsessive) fandom . . . hundreds of "intriguing, compelling body and
household blends with a dark, romantic Gothic tone." All scents are
hand-blended and contain no animal ingredients. They even had the good
taste to donate their wares to SalonCon's Charity Auction!   If you're already
a BPALhead, show off your own collection for swapping and sniffing; if you'd
just like to learn more, we'll be happy to indoctrinate you. The organizer will
bring her own swap/freebie pile, and testers of select Limited Edition
fragrances.  This workshop is appropriate for people ages 14+ and up.  While
BPAL's oils are free of alcohol and synthetics, those with allergies or
chemical sensitivities may wish to choose a different workshop.

Etiquette Panel Discussion: Come join us for a diverse discussion on
modern etiquette.

Traditional Séance: Always been curious about what a real séance looks
like?  Come find out as we do a short Non-Denominational Séance led by a
noted, experienced practitioner.  This séance is designed not to call up
specific people (a la John Edwards) but to use a group focus to connect with
friendly spirits.

Sunday Brunch: Come join us at the hotel restaurant for a big brunch buffet,
Alexander's to enjoy each other's company before saying good bye.  This
event is optional and everyone is responsible for paying for his or her meals.
