FAQ for Salon Con
1. How much are tickets?  How can I buy them?
Please go here for more information.

2. Is there a dress code?
While there isn't a dress code, as this is a convention on refinement, we
would prefer no sneakers, jeans, t shirts, or baseball caps.  We would like
you to wear whatever you feel the most glamorous with *all* of your
naughty bits covered at all times in public places [i.e. Outside of your
hotel room].  Gentlemen, this means your genitals. Gentlewomen, this
means your nipples and genitals.  I really shouldn't have to say that, but
that kind of thinking leads to a lawsuit.  The masquerade ball is a
masked fancy dress ball.  However you interpret this is up to you, again,
provided you follow our decency policy.  Ball gowns, tuxes, morning
suits, corseted ensembles, whatever makes you feel dressed to impress.
3. Where can I find directions for the hotel?
Please go here for more information.

4.  Is this a gothic event?
Not per se.  This is an event for anyone who has any interest in modern
dandyism and  refinement.  Is there an overlap?  Most definitely.

5. What is a salon?

7. I have an idea for a workshop, will you do it?
It depends on how well it fits with our theme and if you are willing to run
it or if we have to find someone to do so.  We are still looking for ideas on
workshops and salons, however.  Please go
here for more information.

8. How can I vendor?
Please go here for more information.

9. How can I find out information on ride sharing and room sharing?
Join our livejournal community for all the up to the second information on
ride sharing, room sharing, after hour parties, new events and performers,
as well as meeting some of the people who will be attending this event.

10. I'm an artist/part of a band/poet/author/performer, can we perform at your
event?
Quite possibly!  Send us an email with some information on who you are
and what you do and some samples of your work and we'll get back to you.

11.  I can't make it but I want to help!  What can I do?
A lot of things!  You can donate, you can help with our street team, and
who knows?  We may need assistance in an area you specialize in.
 Email
us and we'll see what we can do!

12.  What are your policies on diversity and special needs?
We expect everyone to conduct themselves in a manner that is appropriate
to a convention on refinement.  You are not going to like or agree with
everyone at this event.  We expect you to be respectful of others at all
times.  Engaging in fisticuffs or inflammatory arguments (calling someone
a racial slur, for example) will result in being expelled from the event
immediately by security with no refund.
If you have special needs, please
email us and we will do our very best to
accommodate you.

13. How much is it for a hotel room?
Please go here for more information.

14. Are there any age restrictions on this event?
No.  It is an all ages event.  Obviously, you'll be carded at the hotel bar
and there is no alcohol permitted inside the convention itself.  Room
parties are out of our hands and the hotel's hands.  The hotel room rentee
is responsible for anything that goes on inside his or her hotel room, so
don't be stupid.

15.  How long have you been doing this event?
This is our very first year, so please be gentle.

16. Are you affiliated with Salon.com?  What about the refinement community
on livejournal?
Not at all.
